"O Judah, a harvest is appointed for you"

Text: Hosea 6:11

THE SOUTHERN KINGDOM OF JUDAH

Was Judah any better? The sad reality was that Judah was just almost as bad as Israel.

“Also, O Judah, a harvest is appointed for you,
When I return the captives of My people.”
Hosea 6:11

1. “Also, O Judah, a harvest is appointed for you”

a) Judah was not as much mentioned in Hosea.
b) But it was not totally ignored in the book of Hosea.
i) Judah also stumbles with them (with reference to iniquity). {Hosea 5:5c}
ii) Judah saw his wound (Hosea 5:13b).
iii) God would be like a young lion to the house of Judah (Hosea 5:14b).
iv) He will withdraw His presence from both Israel and Judah (Hosea 5:15).
c) Other notable prophets ministered to Judah
i) Isaiah
ii) Micah
iii) Jeremiah
d) Harvest appointed for Judah:
i) Judgment would also be meted out to Judah for its wicked sinfulness.
ii) Judah was also guilty of idolatrous pursuits.
iii) The harvest appointed for Judah was seventy years of captivity in Babylon (Jeremiah 25:11).

2. “When I return the captives of My people”

a) Hosea only hinted of a time when God will return the captives.
b) God will still regard them as, “My people” (Jeremiah 30:22a).

3. The prophecy of Jeremiah

a) God will give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
b) He will be found by His people if they seek Him with all their heart (Jeremiah 29:12-14).
c) He will gather His people back to their homeland (Jeremiah 29:14).
d) He will give them a new covenant (Jeremiah 31:31).
e) He will even write His law upon their hearts and minds (Jeremiah 31:33).
f) Their iniquity would be forgiven and their sins remembered no more (Jeremiah 31:34).
