Isaiah
"Blessed is Egypt My people"
Text: Isaiah 19:25
PROPHECY CONCERNING EGYPT II
Prophecy is always profound. The plans of God are revealed in prophecy, but we need to find both wisdom and faith to comprehend the words of prophecy.
“And the LORD will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it;
they will return to the LORD, and He will be entreated by them and heal them.
In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria,
and the Assyrian will come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria,
and the Egyptians will serve with the Assyrians.
In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria—
a blessing in the midst of the land,
whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying,
‘Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands,
and Israel My inheritance.'”
Isaiah 19:22-25
1. Striking and Healing Egypt.
a) The first part of God’s plan was to “strike” Egypt.
i) The land was idolatrous.
ii) The leaders were most unsatisfactory.
iii) Chastisement had to come first.
iv) Egypt’s quest to be a world empire failed
and the kingdom was conquered by Assyria instead.
b) The second part of God’s plan was to “heal” Egypt.
i) Egyptians would turn to the LORD in faith.
ii) They would entreat the LORD to heal their land.
iii) God would respond favourably.
iv) He would heal the land.
2. Egypt and Assyria
a) When Assyria conquered Egypt, the former became its master.
b) Egypt suffered much under the cruel reign of the Assyrians.
c) Egypt was reduced to great poverty.
d) The healing of Egypt would involve improvement of relationship
between the two countries.
e) They would come to a mutual understanding that would see them
working together as partners.
3. A Trio of Nations.
a) The Trio would comprise:
i) Assyria
ii) Egypt
iii) Israel
b) Together, they would be a blessing to the land.
4. God’s blessings would be pronounced.
a) A special blessings would be pronounced by the LORD of hosts.
b) All would be blessed but each one would be blessed a little differently.
i) The blessing on Egypt.
“Blessed is Egypt My people”
ii) The blessing on Assyria.
“Assyria the work of My hands”
iii) The blessing on Israel
“And Israel My inheritance”
