Isaiah
Day
Day 27

"They shall eat the fruit of their doings"

Text: Isaiah 3:10

TWO DIFFERENT MESSAGES

Isaiah was to proclaim two very different messages from the LORD. There was an encouraging word to the righteous. There was also a stern word of warning to the wicked.

“Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them,
For they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him,
For the reward of his hands shall be given him.
As for My people, children are their oppressors,
And women rule over them.
O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err,
And destroy the way of your paths.”
Isaiah 3:10-12

1. “To the Righteous”

a) The word was that it would be well with them.

b) The righteous deeds they do would yield good fruit.

c) They will happily partake of the fruit they harvest.

2. “To the wicked”

a) The word of warning had to be given to them candidly.

b) Things will now go well for them.

c) They would reap what they sow.

3. When wickedness is allowed free rein:

a) The people will suffer terribly.

b) Children would become oppressors.

i) Children can learn to do evil at an early age.

ii) They can become wicked though they may be young.

iii) The authority given to little princes can be easily abused.

c) Wicked women:

i) They can do wicked deeds too.

ii) Queen Jezebel would be such an example.

iii) She created havoc with her husband King Ahab in the days of Elijah.

d) Wicked leaders:

i) They can cause people to err.

ii) They can destroy the good paths of life.
