"Acknowledge My might"

Text: Isaiah 33:13

THE GREAT POWER OF GOD

When countries engage in wars, mighty armies are sent into battle. The Assyrians had a powerful army that managed to conquer many smaller countries. But in time to come, the Babylonians arose and conquered them. But no army would ever come close to the power that the LORD wields.

“‘Now I will rise,’ says the LORD;
‘Now I will be exalted,
Now I will lift Myself up.
You shall conceive chaff,
You shall bring forth stubble;
Your breath, as fire, shall devour you.
And the people shall be like the burnings of lime;
Like thorns cut up they shall be burned in the fire.
Hear, you who are afar off, what I have done;
And you who are near, acknowledge My might.'”
Isaiah 33:10-13

4. The defeat of mighty empires.

a) This would be known by all, near and far.

i) The might of the LORD must be acknowledged.

ii) Only the LORD can raise up or destroy mighty empires.
