"Daughter of the Chaldeans"

Text: Isaiah 47:1

THE MIGHTY BABYLONIAN EMPIRE

The Assyrians had been the conquerors of Israel and many other nations. But in time, Babylon arose and defeated the Assyrians. Babylon went on to conquer Judah and caused the great Captivity that lasted 70 years! In this prophetic word, Babylon was depicted quite dismally!

“Come down and sit in the dust,
O virgin daughter of Babylon;
Sit on the ground without a throne,
O daughter of the Chaldeans!
For you shall no more be called
Tender and delicate.”
Isaiah 47:1
