"The lovingkindnesses of the LORD"

Text: Isaiah 63:7

THE LOVINGKINDNESS OF GOD

One of the features of God’s mercy shown to Israel was His lovingkindness. This stood out to Isaiah as he pondered the word of God revealed to him.

“I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD
And the praises of the LORD,
According to all that the LORD has bestowed on us,
And the great goodness toward the house of Israel,
Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies,
According to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.”
Isaiah 63:7

1. “I will mention”

a) Isaiah highlighted this truth.

b) He spoke of this great truth with deep appreciation.

2. Features of God’s lovingkindness.

a) They were closely connected.

b) There were many features.

c) A few of them were noted here.

i) All the blessings God had bestowed on Israel.

ii) His great goodness.

iii) His mercies.

3. They were called “lovingkindnesses”.

a) The plural was used.

b) Rather than the collective noun, “lovingkindness”.

c) Isaiah was able to see many features of God’s lovingkindness.

4. The appropriate response

a) To meditate on God’s lovingkindnesses.

b) To offer praises to God.

c) To mention (to speak of) all that God had bestowed on Israel so graciously.
