Day 206

"I will bring them back into their land"

Text: Jeremiah 16:15

A GLIMMER OF HOPE

The LORD began to reveal His plans for the future of the nation. It would require much understanding and faith to trust in this word about the future. Many thought that the Babylonian invasion would mean the end of Judah completely!

“‘Therefore behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD,
‘that it shall no more be said,
‘The LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel
from the land of Egypt,’ but,
‘The LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel
from the land of the north and
from all the lands where He had driven them.’
For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers.'”
Jeremiah 16:14-15

1. “‘Therefore behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD”

a) This was a common idiom used.

3. “But, ‘The LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them'”

a) A fresh and dynamic idiom would be found.
b) Reference would be made to how God would lead the children of Israel.
i) From the land of the north (Babylon).
ii) From other lands to which the children of Israel were exiled.

4. “For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers”

a) God will bring the children of Israel back to their homeland.
b) They will return to the land which God had given as a promise to their fathers.
c) This word must be believed in!
