Jeremiah
"I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them"
Text: Jeremiah 32:42
GOD’S ANSWER TO JEREMIAH VI
The LORD’s answer to Jeremiah’s question was deep and profound. Jeremiah must do his part in digesting God’s word given to him.
“For thus says the LORD:
‘Just as I have brought all this great calamity on this people,
so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.
And fields will be bought in this land of which you say,
‘It is desolate, without man or beast;
it has been given into the hand of the Chaldeans.’
Men will buy fields for money, sign deeds and seal them, and take witnesses,
in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem,
in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the mountains,
in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South;
for I will cause their captives to return,’ says the LORD.”
Jeremiah 32:42-44
1. “For thus says the LORD: ‘Just as I have brought all this great calamity on this people,
so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them'”
a) The word of the LORD concerning the calamity that would befall Judah.
i) His word was fulfilled!
ii) God’s word will always be fulfilled.
b) The word of the LORD concerning the good that He would give to His people.
i) This word would be fulfilled as He had declared.
ii) All the promises of God would be fulfilled just as He had planned and purposed.
2. “And fields will be bought in this land of which you say,
‘It is desolate, without man or beast; it has been given into the hand of the Chaldeans'”
a) Jeremiah’s remark about the land overrun by the Chaldeans.
i) That it was desolate.
ii) That the Chaldeans were in full control and possession of the land.
b) It would not be so in the future.
i) Israel would return to the Promised Land.
ii) The Returnees would once again buy land.
iii) Israel would be rebuilt successfully as God’s goodness is poured out.
3. “‘Men will buy fields for money, sign deeds and seal them, and take witnesses,
in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah,
in the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South;
for I will cause their captives to return,’ says the LORD”
a) The purchase of land.
i) This would occur again when Israel returned.
ii) The normal activities of buying and selling land would resume.
b) The different places that were popular would once again be much sought-after:
i) In Benjamin.
ii) In Jerusalem.
iii) In the cities of Judah.
iv) In the cities of the mountains.
v) In the cities of the lowland.
vi) In the cities of the South
c) Returning to Israel.
i) The LORD Himself will make this happen.
ii) God would make all that He had said come to pass!
