Day 327

Acts 4:18 "So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus." Acts 4:18"

Day 327 – Mark 15

“So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.” Acts 4:18

THE KING OF THE JEWS

Each person crucified would have an inscription of the incriminating accusation placed on the cross.

“And the inscription of His accusation was written above:
THE KING OF THE JEWS”
MARK 15:26

The Kingship of Jesus was never fully comprehended! Nevertheless, there was deep truth in the inscription. Jesus was indeed King!

1. Recognised and worshiped by the Wise Men

It was ironic that the Kingship of Jesus should be recognized by foreigners! Wise Men came from the East on a quest.

“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?
For we have seen His star in the East and have come
To worship Him.”
MATTHEW 2:2

a) These Wise Men recognized the true identity of Jesus.
b) They had come not only to greet Him as King but to offer worship.
c) Jesus was no mere mortal king; He was the prophesied Messianic King.

2. Prophecies concerning the Kingship of Jesus

Two sets of prophecies may be cited:-

a) Prophecy of Daniel

“Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed.”
DANIEL 7:14

b) Prophecy of Zechariah

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, Your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.”
ZECHARIAH 9:9

Wicked and perverse Israel had caused their King to be cruelly humiliated and crucified! How could they have done this to their Messiah-King?
