Day 117 – Mark 5

“That in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11c

ASSIGNMENT HAPPILY ACCEPTED

Legion understood and appreciated the assignment that he received from the Lord Jesus Christ. How happy his heart must have felt that he could do something for this great and compassionate Lord who had given him a new lease of life. But of course, he would go where Jesus would send him.

1. Jesus had not rejected him at all.

2. He was entrusted with an important assignment.

3. He was not worse off just because he was not given the privilege of following Jesus.

4. There was a glorious message that he longed to share with his friends.

5. Indeed, he must begin his work for the Lord Jesus immediately.

“And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis
all that Jesus had done for him, and all marveled.”
MARK 5:20

TAKING AN ASSIGNMENT SERIOUSLY

Legion took the words of Jesus most seriously. The moment he was commissioned, he took leave of Jesus and began his work.

1. He departed

Mark noted that Legion was the one who made the first move. He bade Jesus farewell and departed to commence his ministry.

2. Began to proclaim in Decapolis

Decapolis literally means “Ten cities”. Not only did Legion speak of his new found faith, he traveled to other neighboring cities to share with them his faith in the Lord Jesus.

3. All that Jesus had done for him

That his message would be Christ-centered is easily understood.

a) It was Jesus who sought him out when everybody else had given up on him
b) It was Jesus who confronted and defeated the demons and subsequently delivered him from a fate worse than death.
c) It was Jesus who had given him new life and with it a tremendous sense of purpose too.

His testimony caused many to marvel at what he had experienced!
