Mark
1 Peter 4:16 "Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter."
Day 122 – Mark 5
“Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.” 1 Peter 4:16
A WONDERFUL “QUIET MIRACLE”
With faith in her heart, the woman stretched out her hand and touched the hem of Jesus’ garment. A quiet miracle took place there and then.
“Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up,
and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.”
MARK 5:29
There was no public fanfare. She did not have to even see Jesus personally to ask for His healing grace. She was healed even as she had hoped! Nobody needed to know about this personal quiet miracle that she had received from God.
NOT DESTINED TO BE HIDDEN
A miracle was essentially one of the “signs and wonders” of God. They were special blessings that were meant to be shared with others, that they too might have a greater faith in God. She was caught by surprise when suddenly Jesus stopped walking.
“And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power
had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said,
‘Who touched My clothes?'”
MARK 5:30
The Disciples of Jesus were dumbfounded when they heard Him make this statement! All too swiftly they replied, in virtual remonstration.
“You see the multitude thronging You, and You say,
‘Who touched Me?'”
MARK 5:31
Jesus ignored the words of His disciples and searched the crowd with His eyes, until He spotted the woman. Realising that she could not remain hidden, she owned up.
“But the woman, fearing and trembling,
knowing what had happened to her,
came and fell down before Him and told
Him the whole truth.”
MARK 5:33
What was her great “fear”? Perhaps she feared that she had “stolen” some power from Jesus. Worse, she feared that her cure would not be a permanent one. She could have the illness revisiting her, with additional problems. Who knows what the consequences she must now face? She had not thought that anyone could have known about her “quiet miracle”.
TENDER WORDS OF ASSURANCE
The words Jesus spoke confirmed all she had believed about Him!
“Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace,
and be healed of your affliction.”
MARK 5:34
