Day 144 – Mark 6

“Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you all who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.”
1 Peter 5:14

A VERY FULL MINISTRY

Jesus and His Disciples maintained a very full ministry. The following text well illustrates the kind of ministry maintained.

“There were many coming and going,
and they did not even have time to eat.”
MARK 6:31b

The multitudes kept coming to Jesus. Just as soon as one batch of people left, after they had heard Jesus speak, and after their requests for help had been met, other groups of people would come. The needs were many! All were greatly stretched!

REPORT OF THE DISCIPLES

If the Disciples were sent out two by two, then they must have ministered in six different areas. That would increase the workload of Jesus and His men! The Disciples, of course, had to report back to their Master.

“Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things,
both what they had done and what they had taught.”
MARK 6:30

The pattern that Jesus had established for His disciples must be appreciated:-

1. Equipping

This had to take place first. The Disciples would have to work hard at learning all they could from being with Jesus!

2. Empowering

This was vital too! The Disciples would not have been able to minister effectively if they were not adequately empowered for ministry.

3. Experiencing the real ministry

The Disciples needed as much experience as they could get!

a) The Ministry of teaching (“what they had taught”).
b) The ministry of healing and casting out demons (“what they had done”).

4. Exciting report

The disciples had a great and successful ministry. Their excitement must have been most palpable! They had never experienced such spiritual success before. They were all novices when they were sent out. But they had returned as people with eyes that had been enlightened because of what they had experienced. There was so much to share with Jesus their Master.
