"He will again have compassion on us"

Text: Micah 7:19

THE COMPASSION OF THE LORD

As Micah pondered over how the LORD would show great mercy to the remnant, he was moved deeply by His divine compassion.

“He will again have compassion on us,
And will subdue our iniquities.
You will cast all our sins
Into the depths of the sea.”
Micah 7:19

1. “He will again have compassion on us”

a) The word “compassion” is beautifully illustrated in the following text (Deuteronomy 13:17).
b) It is associated with:
i) God turning away from His fierce anger.
ii) Showing of “mercy”.
iii) Resulting in “compassion”.
c) Compassion is more than “deep feelings”.
d) It is wonderfully illustrated in action.

2. The Compassion of the LORD is well-illustrated in Psalm 111

a) Compassion is closely associated with God’s graciousness (Psalm 111:4).
b) His deeds of compassion are seen in the way He provides for His people (Psalm 111:5-6).

HOW GOD WOULD DEAL WITH OUR SINS

Man is so prone to sin! How gracious and merciful and compassionate of God to deal kindly with sinners.

1. He will subdue our “iniquities”

a) The word “iniquity” is always associated with “evil”.
b) God will subdue the evil that is within the human heart.

2. He will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea

a) This is a beautiful description as to what God would do with our sins.
b) They will be cast into the depths of the sea!

OTHER BEAUTIFUL DESCRIPTIONS OF WHAT GOD WOULD DO WITH OUR SINS

The following are some of the most beautiful descriptions of what God would do with our sins.

1. Removal

He will remove our sins as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12).

2. Blotted out

Sins and transgressions will be blotted out like a thick cloud (Isaiah 43:25; 44:22).

3. Complete cleansing

He will cleanse the sinner of his many sins. He will be as white as snow in God’s sight (Isaiah 1:18).
