Text: Exodus 1: 1-7

MEDITATION

Exodus 1:1-7

1Now these are the names of the children of Israel who came to Egypt; each man and his household came with Jacob:
2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;
3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin;
4 Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
5 All those who were descendants of Jacob were seventy persons (for Joseph was in Egypt already).
6 And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation.
7 But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. The children of Israel

a. The original set of 12 children was noted.
b. Set No. 1
Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah
c. Set No. 2
Issachar, Zebulun and Benjamin
d. Set No. 3
Dan, Naphthali, Gad and Asher
e. Set No. 4
Joseph

2. Including Jacob, Joseph and his two sons

The total was 70 people.

3. Death of the 12 sons of Jacob

a. They went the way of the earth.
b. That entire generation passed on.

4. The flourishing of the children of Israel

a. They were fruitful.
b. They increased abundantly.
c. They multiplied.
d. They grew exceedingly mighty.

The land of Egypt was full of the Hebrews.
