Text: Exodus 11: 4-8

MEDITATION

Exodus 11:4-8

4 Then Moses said, “Thus says the LORD: ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt;
5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the hand mill, and all the firstborn of the animals.
6 Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again.
7 But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that the LORD does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.’
8 And all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Get out, and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will go out.” Then he went out from Pharaoh in great anger.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. Moses speaks to Pharaoh

a. This word was from the LORD.
b. God will visit Egypt.
c. He will strike all the firstborn (male. in the land of Egypt with death.
i. The firstborn of the Pharaoh would die.
ii. The firstborn of the humble female servant would also die.
iii. The firstborn of all the animals.

2. The aftermath of this plague

a. There would be a huge cry of sorrow in Egypt.
b. There had never been such a plague.

3. The children of Israel

a. All would be spared.
b. The LORD would distinguish between Israel and Egypt.

4. The people of Egypt

a. They would bow to Moses in deference.
b. They would strongly request the children of Israel to leave Egypt.
c. Moses and all the children of Israel would then leave Egypt in honour.

5. Moses left Pharaoh
Moses was angry with Pharaoh. He was no longer afraid of him! He had matured!

《出埃及记 11：4-8》
4摩西说：“耶和华这样说：‘约到半夜，我必出去巡行埃及遍地，
5凡在埃及地，从坐宝座的法老直到磨子后的婢女所有的长子，以及一切头生的牲畜，都必死。
6埃及遍地必有大哀号，从前没有这样的，后来也必没有。
7至于以色列中，无论是人是牲畜，连狗也不敢向他们摇舌，好叫你们知道耶和华是将埃及人和以色列人分别出来。’

8你这一切臣仆都要俯伏来见我，说：‘求你和跟从你的百姓都出去’，然后我要出去。”于是，摩西气愤愤地离开法老，出去了。

在生活里有意义地应用

1. 摩西对法老说话

a. 这是上帝的话语
b. 上帝会巡行埃及遍地
c. 祂将把埃及遍地所有的长子处死
i. 法老的长子必死
ii. 最卑微婢女的长子也会死
iii. 一切头生的牲畜也都必死

2. 这场灾殃之后

a. 埃及遍地必有大哀号
b. 这是前所未有的灾殃

3. 以色列人

a. 他们全都会免死
b. 上帝会区别以色列人与埃及人

4. 埃及人

a. 臣仆都要向摩西俯伏
b. 他们会强烈要求以色列人离开埃及
c. 摩西与以色列人将有尊严地离开埃及

5. 摩西离开法老

摩西对法老十分生气。他不再害怕法老！摩西已成熟了！
