我夜间的歌曲《出埃及记》
Text: Exodus 17: 1-4
MEDITATION
Exodus 17:1-4
1 Then all the congregation of the children of Israel set out on their journey from the Wilderness of Sin, according to the commandment of the LORD, and camped in Rephidim; but there was no water for the people to drink.
2 Therefore the people contended with Moses, and said, “Give us water, that we may drink.”
So Moses said to them, “Why do you contend with me? Why do you tempt the LORD?”
3 And the people thirsted there for water, and the people complained against Moses, and said, “Why is it you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?”
4 So Moses cried out to the LORD, saying, “What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me!”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Wilderness of Sin (Zin)
a. Geographical location
This was not the focal point.
b. The lessons to be learned:
This was the point of highlighting the journey through the Wilderness of Sin
(Sometimes written as “Zin”).
c. One major problem highlighted:
i. Bread and Meat
ii. God resolved the problem by special provision of Manna and quails
2. Rephidim
a. Water supply
i. There was plenty of water at Elim (Exodus 15:27).
ii. All the water collected at Elim had probably been exhausted.
b. A new complaint
i. The children of Israel demanded that Moses gave them water.
ii. Once again, they spoke sarcastically to Moses.
iii. Had he brought them out of Egypt to die of thirst at Rephidim?
3. Turning to God
a. Moses turned to God:
i. In desperation
ii. In fear
b. He brought his fears to the LORD.
i. The children of Israel threatened to stone Moses.
ii. He had no idea how to resolve the water shortage problem.
