Text: Exodus 32: 2-4
MEDITATION
Exodus 32:2-4
2 And Aaron said to them, “Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.”
3 So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.
4 And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a moulded calf.
Then they said, “This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Aaron’s response was almost unbelievable.
2. His word to the people.
a. He asked the people to give their golden earrings to him.
b. The people who had earrings included:
i. Wives
ii. Sons
iii. Daughters
3. The response of the people when they heard these words from Aaron.
a. They broke off their earrings.
b. They were not unwilling to part with their golden earrings.
4. The making of a golden calf:
a. Aaron received their gold.
b. He melted down the golden earrings.
c. He fashioned a golden calf out of the gold given to him.
5. Aaron did not even attempt the following:
a. To reject their suggestion.
b. To rebuke them for suggesting the making of an idol.
c. To remind them of the Second Commandment about not making idols.
6. The people saw the golden calf.
a. They were excited.
b. Idolatry attracted them for they were surrounded by idols in Egypt.
c. They exclaimed:
“This is your god, O Israel that brought you out of Egypt!”
Exodus 32:4
d. The children of Israel had turned away from the God who spoke to them from Mount Sinai.
e. They were glorifying a statue that was cold and lifeless.

1. 亚伦的反应令人难以置信
2. 他对人们的话
a. 他叫人们把金耳环交给他
b. 有金耳环的人们:
i. 妻子
ii. 儿子
iii. 女儿
3. 人们对亚伦话语的反应
a. 百姓就都摘下他们耳上的金环
b. 他们丝毫没有不愿意把金耳环交给他
4. 铸牛犊:
a. 亚伦从他们手里接过金
b. 他将金环融化
c. 他利用所接过的金铸了一只牛犊
5. 亚伦并没有尝试以下:
a. 拒绝他们的提议
b. 责骂他们提议制作偶像
c. 提醒他们有关不可为自己雕刻偶像的第二诫
6. 人们看见金牛犊
a. 他们十分兴奋
b. 拜虚神和偶像吸引了他们,因在埃及时,到处都有偶像
c. 他们说:
“以色列啊,这是领你出埃及地的神!”
