MEDITATION
Exodus 34:18
18 “The Feast of Unleavened Bread you shall keep. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, in the appointed time of the month of Abib; for in the month of Abib you came out from Egypt.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The Feast of Unleavened Bread
a. This was a Feast that was meant to be kept.
b. The word “kept”.
i. Remembered
ii. Honoured
iii. Observed
2. Unleavened Bread
a. Bread made without yeast.
b. Regular bread is made with yeast.
c. Yeast is what makes the dough rise.
d. Unleavened bread came to represent:
i. Something unmixed.
ii. It stood for purity.
3. Eating Unleavened Bread
a. Not just for one day.
b. But for a full week.
c. This was to be strictly observed.
4. The Passover
a. The Feast of the Unleavened Bread follows the Passover.
b. The Passover commemorates the time when God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt.
c. God had passed over the land of Egypt and had slain all the firstborn.
d. God spared all the homes of those who had the blood of a lamb splattered on the doorposts and lintels of the house.
e. He would pass over those homes. No one died in those homes (Exodus 12).
5. The two Feasts were tied together
a. The Passover was celebrated in the evening (one day).
b. The Feast of the Unleavened Bread followed immediately after (one week).
