Text: Exodus 40: 34-38

MEDITATION

Exodus 40:34-38

34 Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
35 And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
36 Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in all their journeys.
37 But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up.
38 For the cloud of the LORD was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. The glory of the LORD

a. This represents many things:
i. His majesty
ii. His power
iii. His presence
b. The manifestation in this instance.
i. A cloud.
ii. This covered the tabernacle of meeting.

2. The significance of this special manifestation of God’s glory

a. His acceptance of all the work put in to make the Tabernacle.
b. His approval of the work by everyone involved in the project.

3. Moses

a. Normally, he was able to speak to the Lord “face-to-face”.
b. On this occasion, not even Moses could enter into the Tabernacle.
c. The Power of God’s Presence was truly great and over-powering.

AN IMPORTANT HISTORICAL COMMENT

1. The Presence of the special Cloud of God’s glory

a. When the Cloud arose above the Tabernacle
Israel must be ready to follow where the Cloud would lead
b. When the Cloud was not taken up
Israel must remain where it was

2. The Special Fire of God’s glory

a. In the night, a special Fire of glory was above the Tabernacle.
b. This would be visible to all.
c. It also represented the Protecting Presence of God.

3. The glorious Presence of God

a. God offered His protective presence to the children of Israel day and night.
b. In the day, a pillar of Cloud was over the Tabernacle.
c. At night, a pillar of Fire was over the Tabernacle.

God’s plan of redemption for the Children of Israel had wonderfully climaxed in the setting up of a sanctuary where He would be close by! Israel’s part was to treasure the significance of having faith in such a great and personal God!

34当时，云彩遮盖会幕，耶和华的荣光就充满了帐幕。
35摩西不能进会幕，因为云彩停在其上，并且耶和华的荣光充满了帐幕。
36每逢云彩从帐幕收上去，以色列人就起程前往；
37云彩若不收上去，他们就不起程，直等到云彩收上去。

38日间，耶和华的云彩是在帐幕以上；夜间，云中有火，在以色列全家的眼前。在他们所行的路上，都是这样。

在生活里有意义地应用

1. 上帝的荣光

a. 这代表着许多事物：
i. 上帝的威严
ii. 上帝的大能
iii. 上帝的同在
b. 上帝在这个时刻的显现
i. 云彩
ii. 遮盖会幕

2.上帝显现特别荣光的意义

a. 这表示上帝接受以色列立成帐幕的工作
b. 这是祂对所有参与这份事工的认同

3. 摩西

a. 他平时能与上帝“面对面”说话
b. 但在这个场合，连摩西也无法进入会幕
c. 上帝同在的大能确实过于伟大和强大

一个重要及历史记录

1.上帝荣耀的特别云彩的同在

a. 当云彩从帐幕收上去
以色列必须跟随云彩的领导
b. 若云彩不收上去
以色列必须停留在此处

2.上帝荣耀的特别火柱

a. 这特别火柱会在夜间遮盖会幕
b. 这是所有人都能看见的
c. 这代表上帝保佑的同在

3. 上帝荣耀的同在

a. 上帝的同在从白天到夜间会保佑了以色列的子民
b. 云彩会在日间遮盖会幕
c. 火柱会在夜间遮盖会幕
上帝赐予以色列的子民的拯救计划通过立成帐幕而美好地达到顶点！这帐幕将代表祂会亲近以色列的子民。以色列的责任则是要珍惜在如此伟大和个人的上帝里的信心！
