Text: Genesis 13: 10-13

MEDITATION

Genesis 13:10-13

10 And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar.
11 Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other.
12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom.
13 But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the LORD.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. How Lot made his choice

a. He saw the land of Jordan.
b. There were many features that he felt would be advantageous to him.
i. It was well-watered.
ii. It was like the garden of the LORD.
c. He separated from his uncle Abram.

2. What Lot did not do

a. He did not consult with his uncle Abram.
b. There was no attempt to resolve the conflicts the herdsmen had with each other.
c. He did not consider how his uncle would fare if he chose “the best”.
d. He did not seem to have sought the Lord nor His blessings.

3. Abram

a. He stayed in Canaan.
b. He stayed true to his word given to Lot. Abram did not begrudge his choice.

4. The city of Sodom

The land may allow one to become wealthy. But Sodom was known for its wickedness!

《创世记 13：10-13》
10罗得举目，看见约旦河的全平原，直到琐珥，都是滋润的。那地在耶和华未灭所多玛、蛾摩拉以先如同耶和华的园子，也像埃及地。
11于是罗得选择约旦河的全平原，往东迁移。他们就彼此分离了。
12亚伯兰住在迦南地，罗得住在平原的城邑，渐渐挪移帐篷，直到所多玛。

13所多玛人在耶和华面前罪大恶极。

在生活里有意义地应用

1. 罗得如何做出选择

a. 他看见了约旦河的全平原
b. 他发现许多对他有利益的特征
i. 全平原都是滋润的
ii. 如同主的园子
c. 于是他就与自己的伯父，亚伯兰，分离了

2. 以下这几点是罗得没有做到的

a. 他并没有与伯父，亚伯兰，协商
b. 罗得没有试图化解牧人之间的纠纷
c. 他把“最好”的选择了给自己，却没顾虑到那样伯父结果会如何
d. 他似乎没有寻求主，也没有寻求祂的赐福

3. 亚伯兰

a. 他住在迦南地
b. 他履行了对罗得的承诺。亚伯兰并没有怨恨罗得所做的选择

4. 所多玛城

这地虽然能使人富裕，但所多玛充满的邪恶是众所皆知的！
