Text: Genesis 19: 34-38

MEDITATION

Genesis 19:34-38

34 It happened on the next day that the firstborn said to the younger, “Indeed I lay with my father last night; let us make him drink wine tonight also, and you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father.”
35 Then they made their father drink wine that night also. And the younger arose and lay with him, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose.
36 Thus both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father.
37 The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day.
38 And the younger, she also bore a son and called his name Ben-Ammi; he is the father of the people of Ammon to this day.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. The wicked plan of the daughters of Lot

a. The elder daughter had lain with her father.
b. The younger daughter was encouraged to do the same thing.

2. Their reasoning

a. They felt that they must preserve the lineage of their father.
b. He had lost family in Sodom and Gomorrah.
c. They knew that Lot would not have agreed with their reasoning.
d. Thus, they made him so drunk he did not know that he had lain with his daughters.

THE OFFSPRING OF LOT

1. The firstborn was called Moab.

2. The second son was called Ammon.

3. These became the forefathers of the Moabites and the Ammonites.

4. These two nations, in time, would become traditional enemies of Israel.

34第二天，大女儿对小女儿说：“我昨夜与父亲同寝，今夜我们再叫他喝酒，你可以进去与他同寝，这样我们好从父亲存留后裔。”
35 于是，那夜她们又叫父亲喝酒，小女儿起来与她父亲同寝。她几时躺下，几时起来，父亲都不知道。

37 大女儿生了儿子，给他起名叫摩押，就是现今摩押人的始祖。

1. 罗得的女儿们的邪恶计划

a. 大女儿和父亲同寝
b. 她鼓励小女儿也做同样的事情

2. 她们的推理

a. 她们要从父亲存留后裔
b. 罗得因所多玛和蛾摩拉被毁灭而痛失了家人
c. 她们知道罗得不会同意她们的推理
d. 因此，她们使他喝醉，以至他不晓得他与女儿同寝

3. 罗得的后裔

a. 长子叫摩押
b. 次子叫便亚米
c. 他们是摩押人和亚扪人的始祖
