MEDITATION
Genesis 24:28-30
28 So the young woman ran and told her mother’s household these things.
29 Now Rebekah had a brother whose name was Laban, and Laban ran out to the man by the well.
30 So it came to pass, when he saw the nose ring, and the bracelets on his sister’s wrists, and when he heard the words of his sister Rebekah, saying, “Thus the man spoke to me,” that he went to the man. And there he stood by the camels at the well.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Rebekah the runner
a. She ran to draw water for the camels.
b. She ran and told her mother’s household what had happened at the well.
c. This feature speaks well of her:
i. She attends to her tasks readily.
ii. She does her work with energy and enthusiasm.
iii. She does what she does willingly and happily.
2. Rebekah’s brother Laban
a. He ran to the well to see the chief steward for himself.
b. His decision to run to see the chief steward.
i. He saw the nose ring.
ii. He saw the golden bracelets.
iii. He heard Rebekah speaking of her encounter with the chief steward.
c. He saw the chief steward at the well as Rebekah had said.
d. He knew that the chief steward represented a master of considerable wealth.
He decided that it would be good to be personally acquainted with the generous man. Seldom one meets a person who would give golden nose rings and costly bracelets.
