MEDITATION
Genesis 24:52-54
52 And it came to pass, when Abraham’s servant heard their words, that he worshiped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.
53 Then the servant brought out jewelry of silver, jewelry of gold, and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave precious things to her brother and to her mother.
54 And he and the men who were with him ate and drank and stayed all night. Then they arose in the morning, and he said, “Send me away to my master.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Response of the chief steward
a. His response was consistent and good.
b. Elements of his response that were outstanding:
i. He offered worship to the LORD.
ii. He prostrated himself bowing to the earth.
iii. There was deep gratitude felt and thanksgiving for a successful mission.
2. Gifts for the bride’s family
a. Jewelry of both silver and gold were given to Rebekah.
b. Clothing was given too.
c. Gifts to Milcah and Laban were mentioned as well.
3. Celebration
a. This occasion called for a celebration.
b. The family ate and drank with the chief steward.
c. They did not despise him as a mere servant of Abraham.
d. He had won their respect when he shared openly about how the LORD had blessed and led.
