MEDITATION
Genesis 24:62-65
62 Now Isaac came from the way of Beer Lahai Roi, for he dwelt in the South.
63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening; and he lifted his eyes and looked, and there, the camels were coming.
64 Then Rebekah lifted her eyes, and when she saw Isaac she dismounted from her camel;
65 for she had said to the servant, “Who is this man walking in the field to meet us?” The servant said, “It is my master.” So she took a veil and covered herself.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Isaac’s movements
a. He was the heir of Abraham.
b. The family owned much livestock.
c. Isaac was involved in looking after the flocks and herds.
d. Part of his responsibilities would be to do checks on the livestock and the servants.
e. He would move from place to place.
f. In this instance he moved from the South to the present location.
2. Isaac’s habit of meditation
a. He seemed to have formed a habit of setting aside time for meditation.
b. He looked up and saw his father’s servants returning.
3. Rebekah sighted Isaac
a. She asked the servants who that man was, who was coming to meet them.
b. She was informed that it was their master, Isaac.
c. Rebekah appropriately got off her camel and veiled herself in appropriate modesty when Isaac approached the returning chief steward and his servants.
