Text: Genesis 28: 10-12

MEDITATION

Genesis 28:10-12

10 Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran.
11 So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep.
12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. Jacob’s journey

a. He journeyed from his home in Beersheba.
b. His general direction was towards Haran.
c. This distance was 5340 km!

2. A long journey

a. It was nightfall but Jacob was a long way from home.
b. He was also nowhere near Haran.
c. The sun had set and he could not carry on with his journey at night.

3. He must have been really tired out

a. His pillow was a stone.
b. He was worn out and slept in the open.
c. He was not a hunter like Esau and did not know where to look for shelter at night.
d. One does not sleep in the open!
i. There could be wild animals.
ii. The weather could work against him (the cold at night).

4. A dream of a ladder that reach heaven

a. He saw Heaven.
b. He also saw angels ascending and descending the ladder.

沉思

《创世记 28：10-12》
10 雅各出了别是巴，向哈兰走去。
11 到了一个地方，因为太阳落了，就在那里住宿，便拾起那地方的一块石头枕在头下，在那里躺卧睡了。

12 梦见一个梯子立在地上，梯子的头顶着天，有神的使者在梯子上上去下来。

在生活里有意义地应用

1. 雅各的路途

a. 雅各从别是巴的家中出发
b. 他向着哈兰的方向走去
c. 距离是5340公里！

2. 遥远的路途

a. 夜幕降临，但雅各离家很远
b. 离哈兰的距离一点也不近
c. 太阳落了，他无法在黑夜中继续前进

3. 他一定非常疲累了

a. 他的枕头是一块石头
b. 他筋疲力尽，并睡在户外
c. 他不像打猎的以扫，他夜间不晓得该往哪里寻找住宿
d. 不该睡在户外！
i. 可能会有野兽
ii. 可能会面对恶劣的天气而使他难受（夜间寒冷）

4. 梦见一个梯子的头顶着天

a. 他看见天国
b. 他也看见上帝的使者在梯子上上去下来
