MEDITATION
Genesis 3:14-15
14 So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The judgment of God meted out against the serpent
a. The serpent was cursed by the LORD.
b. It will eat dust all the days of its life. This is a special description of being humbled.
2. Enmity
a. The woman would hate the serpent for having deceived her.
b. This enmity would be perpetual.
3. The Seed of the woman
a. This is a special message of hope that the LORD gave.
b. The “Seed of the woman” was a veiled reference to the birth of the Saviour.
i. A woman has no seed.
ii. A special divine seed would be implanted in the virgin Mary.
iii. This special Seed would one day defeat the serpent.
4. The serpent would bruise the heel of the Saviour, causing His death.
5. But the Saviour would crush the head of the serpent (Hebrews 2:14-15).
