Text: Genesis 36: 15-19
MEDITATION
Genesis 36:15-19
15 These were the chiefs of the sons of Esau. The sons of Eliphaz, the firstborn son of Esau, were Chief Teman, Chief Omar, Chief Zepho, Chief Kenaz,
16 Chief Korah, Chief Gatam, and Chief Amalek. These were the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom. They were the sons of Adah.
17 These were the sons of Reuel, Esau’s son: Chief Nahath, Chief Zerah, Chief Shammah, and Chief Mizzah. These were the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom. These were the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.
18 And these were the sons of Aholibamah, Esau’s wife: Chief Jeush, Chief Jaalam, and Chief Korah. These were the chiefs who descended from Aholibamah, Esau’s wife, the daughter of Anah.
19 These were the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these were their chiefs.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

3. Chieftains from the line of Reuel who was the son of the third wife of Esau, Basemath
a. Four chieftains emerged.
b. They were Chief Nahath, Chief Zerah, Chief Shammah, and Chief Mizzah.
4. Chieftains from the direct line of Esau
a. Their mother was Aholibamah, the second wife of Esau.
b. Three chieftains emerged.
c. They were Chief Jeush, Chief Jaalam, and Chief Korah.
d. Again, there is no mention of their having children.
BECOMING CHIEFS
It was not an easy thing to become a chief. It is quite astonishing to note the number of chiefs from the line of Esau. We are reminded of how the Lord had promised to bless Isaac and his offspring. One would be stronger than the other (This was a prophetic reference to Esau; Genesis 25:23).
