Text: Genesis 43: 19-23

MEDITATION

Genesis 43:19-23

19 When they drew near to the steward of Joseph’s house, they talked with him at the door of the house,
20 and said, “O sir, we indeed came down the first time to buy food;
21 but it happened, when we came to the encampment, that we opened our sacks, and there, each man’s money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight; so we have brought it back in our hand.
22 And we have brought down other money in our hands to buy food. We do not know who put our money in our sacks.”
23 But he said, “Peace be with you, do not be afraid. Your God and the God of your father has given you treasure in your sacks; I had your money.” Then he brought Simeon out to them.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. The steward of the house of Joseph

a. He was an important official.

b. He was serving the governor of Egypt.

2. The brothers’ conversation with the steward

a. They explained how they came to Egypt on a previous visit to buy food.

b. When they reached home, they found their money in their sacks.

c. They wanted to return the money back.

d. They also said that they had brought extra money to purchase food again.

e. They wanted the steward to know that they had not cheated the Egyptians.

3. The steward’s reply

a. He spoke kindly to them.

i. Urging them to cease being afraid.

ii. They did not need to worry about the money in their sack.

b. Perhaps, their God had given them the money in their sacks.

4. Simeon was released

a. Simeon had been released from prison.

b. He was now present with his brothers, in the home of the Egyptian governor!

《创世记 43：19-23》
19他们就挨近约瑟的家宰，在屋门口和他说话，
20说：“我主啊，我们头次下来实在是要籴粮。
21后来到了住宿的地方，我们打开口袋，不料，各人的银子分量足数，仍在各人的口袋内，现在我们手里又带回来了。
22另外又带下银子来籴粮。不知道先前谁把银子放在我们的口袋里。

23家宰说：“你们可以放心，不要害怕，是你们的神和你们父亲的神赐给你们财宝在你们的口袋里。你们的银子我早已收了。”他就把西缅带出来，交给他们。

在生活里有意义地应用

1. 约瑟的家宰

a. 他是重要的官员

b. 他是侍候埃及宰的官员

2. 弟兄和家宰的对话

a. 他们解释之前来到埃及购买食粮

b. 当他们到达家里的时候，他们却发现口袋内有银子。

c. 他们希望能够归还这些银子

d. 他们也告知家宰他们带了加倍的银子来购买食粮

e. 他们希望家宰能够明白他们并没有欺骗埃及人的想法

3. 家宰的回复

a. 他亲切地回复他们

i. 他劝他们无须感到害怕

ii. 他们也无须因口袋内的银子而感到顾虑/h6>

b. 这或许是他们的神所赐给他们的银子

4. 西缅被释放

a. 西缅从监牢里被释放

b. 他在埃及宰的屋里和他的弟兄团聚！
