Text: Luke 1:46-48

MARY’S RECENT EXPERIENCES

1. The Angel Gabriel had paid her a visit

He had called her “Blessed” (Luke 1:28).

2. In the home of Elizabeth

Mary was also called “Blessed” twice (Luke 1:42, 45).

AN INSPIRED RESPONSE

1. Mary finally understood.

2. Her soul was touched deeply.

3. She gave a truly inspired response (Luke 1:46-55).

a. This is a full response.

b. We will take time to read and understand what she said in greater depth.

A SONG OF PRAISE I

1. Magnifying of God (Luke 1:46)

a. This was what Mary felt and desired.

b. She just could not but have this desire to magnify God.

c. She wanted to give fullness of glory to God.

d. This is a good and natural and grateful response of the soul to a great God.

2. Rejoicing in God (Luke 1:47)

a. Because God was so good to her.

b. He was her wonderful Saviour.

c. Her joy was deep, reaching to her spirit.

d. This joy is something we can experience too.

3. Deep humility expressed (Luke 1:48)

a. Mary saw herself as but a lowly maidservant.

b. Yet, God had chosen her to bear the Christ-Child.

c. For all generations, everyone will speak of her as being “Blessed”.

d. Mary’s spirit of humility is worth emulating!
May we ever see ourselves as humble servants of God!
