Text: Luke 10: 38-42
IN THE HOME OF MARTHA AND MARY
1. The Lord Jesus had faithful followers who opened their homes to Him and His Disciples.
2. One home that was open to Him belonged to Martha and Mary (Luke 10:38).
3. The Lord Jesus used the home to teach His Disciples.
MARY
Mary sat the feet of the Lord, engrossed by what she was learning (Luke 10:39).
MARTHA
Martha was a little upset that Mary was not helping her to prepare food for the Lord and His Disciples.
“But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, ‘Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.’”
Luke 10:40
a. Distracted
i. Martha was caught up with “much serving”.
ii. Mary just sat the feet of the Lord Jesus!
b. Disturbed
i. She wondered why the Lord did not seem to care that she had so much to do.
ii. She asked the Lord to instruct Mary to help in the kitchen.
THE RESPONSE OF THE LORD JESUS
“And Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.’”
Luke 10:41-42
a. Addressing Martha
i. The Lord noted how she was “worried and troubled about many things.
ii. Martha did not need to prepare many things!
iii. She just needed to prepare just “one thing”.
b. Concerning Mary
i. Mary had chosen “that good part”.
ii. She had chosen to sit at the feet of the Lord Jesus to learn.
iii. That would not be taken from her!

主耶稣的回应
