My Song In The Night (Gospel of Luke)
Text: Luke 11: 2-4
THE LORD’S PRAYER V
“So He said to them, ‘When you pray, say:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us day by day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.’”Luke 11:2-4
FORGIVENESS OF SINS
1. Sins must be confessed to God (Psalm 32:1-5).
a. Sins unconfessed hurt us spiritually.
b. When confessed genuinely there is full forgiveness from God.
2. Forgiveness of people.
a. As much as we have been forgiven of our sins.
b. We must practise forgiving others of their sins.
“Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”
Colossians 3:13
i. We are to bear with one another.
ii. Forgive one another.
iii. As the Lord has forgiven us, so we must forgive others.
DELIVERANCE FROM THE EVIL ONE
1. In life, there will always be “temptations”.
a. This may be understood as “testing” in life.
b. We may pray that we may be spared from testing.
c. But the Lord may allow us to be tested.
2. Our greatest enemy is the Evil One (The Devil).
a. He can lead us astray easily.
b. We must pray that God will deliver us from his evil clutches.
LEARNING TO PRAY
1. Prayer is best learned through practice.
2. Go over the Lord’s Prayer and use it as a Guide to help us pray better.
