MANY LESSONS FOR THE DISCIPLES TO LEARN
1. The Teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.
2. Finding and cultivating a great Faith.
3. Learning how to relate to the Multitudes.
a. The people can be unruly.
b. They can be very self-centred.
c. Crowd control needs to be learned.
4. Finding the courage to face up to those who opposed the Lord Jesus (Scribes, Pharisees, Sadducees, Lawyers).
AN IMPORTANT LESSON
“For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark
will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.”Luke 12:2-3
1. The covering up of the hypocrisy of the scribes and Pharisees.
a. Their sinful ways had been hidden for a long time.
b. Few dared to expose their sinful ways.
2. The Lord Jesus wanted His disciples to learn this truth!
a. Nothing can remain covered indefinitely.
b. Sins would be revealed one day.
3. Things spoken in the dark.
a. Many were the plots of the Pharisees and scribes against the Lord Jesus.
b. These were spoken “in the dark” (in secret).
c. But these would be exposed.
d. The Lord Jesus exposed their sins (Luke 11:37-54).
4. Things spoken in the ear in inner rooms.
a. This was an idiomatic expression.
b. It is like our modern equivalent, “behind closed doors”.
c. The scribes and Pharisees attempted to hide all their sinful ways.
d. Their hypocrisy was exposed.
5. The Disciples must learn to dare to “proclaim on the housetops”.
a. How to be courageous.
b. How to proclaim the truth openly and without fear.
