My Song In The Night (Gospel of Luke)
Text: Luke 12: 51-53
DEEP AND PROFOUND THOUGHTS SHARED II
“Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
Luke 12:51-53
1. Peace
a. The Lord Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).
b. He taught His disciples to be peacemakers (Matthew 5:9).
2. What did He mean when He now speaks of “division”?
a. As far as possible we should pursue peace (Romans 12:18).
b. But there are situations when peace is not possible.
3. Division in the Family
a. Father against son.
b. Son against father.
c. Mother against daughter.
d. Daughter against mother.
4. What is the cause of this problem of division?
a. The believer is NOT guilty of causing the division over trivial matters.
b. It may occur when:
i. There is objection to faith in the Lord Jesus.
ii. When there is opposition to believing in the Lord Jesus.
c. The believer
i. He decides to believe in the Lord Jesus.
ii. He determines to hold fast to his faith.
iii. He will not yield to objection or opposition to his faith in the Lord.
This is where division may take place in the family.
1. 太平
c. 信徒
iii.
