My Song In The Night (Gospel of Luke)
我夜间的歌曲《路加福音》
Text: Luke 13: 1-3
DRAWING A COMMENT FROM THE LORD JESUS
1. The Lord Jesus was often surrounded:
a. By His Disciples.
b. By a Multitude.
c. By Opponents,
2. He was sometimes asked to comment on current events.
“There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.”
Luke 13:1
a. The Lord Jesus was informed about an incident involving some Galileans.
b. They had gone to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices.
c. Pilate who was the Roman governor had these Galileans killed.
d. What was the opinion of the Lord Jesus concerning these Galileans?
THE REPLY OF THE LORD JESUS
“And Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.’”
Luke 13:2-3
1. The Lord Jesus knew what the current opinion was.
a. That the Galileans who were slain must have been “Worse sinners than all other Galileans”.
b. Thus, they suffered such a fate.
2. The reply of the Lord must have come as a surprise if not a shock.
a. The need for repentance.
i. Everyone needs to repent from sin.
ii. This was overlooked by some.
b. The fact that some have terrible sins compared to others sometimes obscures the need for repentance for all manner of sins.
c. What if there is no repentance from sin?
i. All unrepentant sinners will perish.
ii. It does not really matter how one dies but the fact is that all who are unrepentant would perish.
d. The need of the hour.
i. It is not to comment on the sinful state of others.
ii. But to examine one’s own heart and to repent from whatever sins that may be found therein.
经文:路加福音 13:1-3
