2. Money was called “unrighteous mammon”.
3. Nevertheless, one must find wisdom how to handle money:
a. Responsibility
b. Faithfulness
c. Astuteness
d. Prudence
GOD AND MAMMON
“No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”
Luke 16:13
1. It was vital to summarise all that had been taught.
2. God and Mammon must be clearly distinguished.
3. The important thing to watch out for is this principle: “You cannot serve God and mammon” (Luke 16:13).
A FACT OF LIFE
1. One cannot serve two masters.
2. Especially when they are diametrically opposite.
a. God
i. His focus is eternal.
ii. That which is Spiritual.
b. Mammon
i. The focus is life on this earth.
ii. That which is carnal.
3. Potential conflict
a. If one loves money, he will find it next to impossible to love God.
b. If one serves money, it would not be possible to give heartfelt service to God.
c. If one is loyal to mammon, it would not be possible to be absolutely true to God.
