My Song In The Night (Gospel of Luke)
我夜间的歌曲《路加福音》
Text: Luke 20: 1-2
MINISTRY OF TEACHING IN THE TEMPLE
1. The Lord Jesus continued to teach in the Temple after He had cleansed it.
2. There were many who listened to Him.
THE AUTHORITY OF THE LORD JESUS QUESTIONED
“Now it happened on one of those days, as He taught the people in the temple and preached the gospel, that the chief priests and the scribes, together with the elders, confronted Him and spoke to Him, saying, ‘Tell us, by what authority are You doing these things? Or who is he who gave You this authority?’”
Luke 20:1-2
1. Preaching of the Gospel.
a. The content was about the Kingdom of God.
b. Those who repented of their sins and believed in the Lord Jesus would be admitted into God’s Kingdom.
2. Teaching ministry
a. He would answer questions that may be raised up.
b. He would teach deeper lessons to all who were interested.
3. The religious leaders approached the Lord Jesus.
a. The chief priests
b. The scribes
c. The elders
4. They challenged the Lord Jesus to disclose the source of His authority.
a. They should have been able to see that the Spirit of God was upon the Lord Jesus (Luke 4: 14, 18).
b. So many mighty miracles had been performed already.
i. The sick were healed.
ii. The demons were cast out.
iii. These would have indicated that the authority of the Lord Jesus had come from God Himself.
c. These religious leaders were seeking to find fault. They were not sincere in seeking to know the authority behind the Lord Jesus.
