Text: Luke 21: 10-11

GRAVE WORDS OF WARNING

1. These words of the Lord Jesus must be carefully studied and understood.

2. They can be easily misread,

“Then He said to them, ‘Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.’”

Luke 21:10-11

THE KINGDOM OF GOD

1. The Lord Jesus certainly preached about the Kingdom of God.

2. His focus was on the spiritual and eternal aspects.

THE KINGDOMS OF THE WORLD

1. They will continue to exist.

2. However, throughout time:

a. Nation has risen against nation
b. Kingdom against kingdom.
c. Things will continue to be unstable and violent.

3. Natural disasters

a. They will also continue to occur.
b. The world has always known these things.
i. Great earthquakes in various places.
ii.And famines and pestilences.

4. Other indicators

a. Fearful sights.
b. Great signs from heaven.

5. The Kingdom that the Lord preached will not do the following:

a. It will not prevent wars.
b. It will not avert disasters.
c. The Disciples must not be naïve.
d. The problems in the world will continue to exist.
