Text: Luke 21: 20-22

GRIM WORDS OF WARNING

1. The Lord Jesus had to give grim words of warning.

2. The focus this time was on the vengeance of the Romans against Judea.

“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.”

Luke 21:20

a. “Jerusalem surrounded by enemies”

i. The prophet Jeremiah warned Jerusalem of the Babylonian invasion.

ii. The Lord Jesus warned of an impending disaster too.

iii. Sadly, the people refused to heed what was spoken to them.

b. “Desolation is near”

i. The Romans preferred peace to war.

ii. But if any city is rebellious, they would take action.

iii. They would bring utter desolation to that rebellious city.

PRACTICAL WORDS OF ADVICE

1. The Lord Jesus went on further to give wise words of advice.

2. These were sound and practical words>

“Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.”

Luke 21:21-22

a. Those who lived in Judea.

i. Those who are citizens must flee to the mountains.

ii. Those who are residents are advised to depart.

b. Those who are outside Judea. They are advised not to enter into this zone of conflict.

3. Days of vengeance

a. Judea and Jerusalem in the days of the Lord Jesus:

i. Defiant

ii. Disobedient

b. No city can rebel against Rome with feelings of impunity.

i. The Romans would come with vengeance in their hearts.

ii. They would take severe action against Judea and Jerusalem.

c. The fulfilment of Scripture.

i. The words of warning by the Lord Jesus were not heeded.

ii. There were many prophecies concerning Divine judgment against wicked people.

iii.他们会彻底的毁灭叛变的城市

1. 主耶稣继续给明智的忠告

2. 这些是正确而实用的词句

“那时，在犹太的，应当逃到山上；在城里的，应当出来；在乡下的，不要进城。 因为这是报应的日子，使经上所写的都得应验。”

《路加福音 21：21-22》

a. 住在犹太的人
