Text: Luke 22: 54-62

THE ARREST OF THE LORD JESUS

“Having arrested Him, they led Him and brought Him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed at a distance.”

Luke 22:54

1. The Lord Jesus had been arrested.

2. The Disciples had fled (Matthew 26:56b).

3. The Lord Jesus was brought to the residence of the high priest.

4. Peter followed but from a distance.

IN THE COURTYARD OF THE HIGH PRIEST

“Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them.”

Luke 22:55

1. It was a cold night.

2. A fire was built to warm the people in the courtyard.

3. Peter managed to get into the courtyard. His heart was so torn for their Master had been arrested and they were all helpless!

PETER’S DENIAL OF THE LORD JESUS

“And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, ‘This man was also with Him.’ But he denied Him, saying, ‘Woman, I do not know Him.’And after a little while another saw him and said, ‘You also are of them.’ But Peter said, ‘Man, I am not!’ Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, ‘Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean.’ But Peter said, ‘Man, I do not know what you are saying!’”

Luke 22:55-60a

1. A servant girl accused Peter as one of the Lord’s Disciples.
Peter denied that he ever knew the Lord Jesus!

2. Another person said a similar thing.
Peter once again denied that he was associated with the Lord Jesus.

3. A third person, a man this time, accused Peter of being a Galilean and a disciple of the Lord Jesus.
Peter once again denied that he was a Disciple of the Lord.

THE CROWING OF THE ROOSTER

“Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, ‘Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.’ So Peter went out and wept bitterly.”

Luke 22:60b-62

1. A rooster crowed.

2. The Lord Jesus had arrived at the house of the high priest at that moment.

3. He turned and looked at Peter.

4. The Disciple Peter was heart-broken.

a. He remembered what the Lord Jesus had said.
b. He had indeed denied the Lord three times.
c. He had failed the Lord Jesus in the worst possible way!
d. He shed bitter tears as he left the courtyard of the high priest.

1．这是一个寒冷的夜晚

2．院子里生了一堆火给人们取暖

3．彼得进入了院子。他的心如刀绞，因为他们的夫子被抓了，他们却束手无策！

彼得否认主耶稣

“有一个使女看见彼得坐在火光里，就定睛看他，说：‘这个人素来也是同那人一伙的。’彼得却不承认，说：‘女子，我不认得他。’过了不多的时候，又有一个人看见他，说：‘你也是他们一党的。’彼得说：‘你这个人！我不是。’约过了一小时，又有一个人极力地说：‘他实在是同那人一伙的，因为他也是加利利人。’彼得说：‘你这个人！我不晓得你说的是什么！’”

《路加福音 22：56-60a》

1．一个使女指责彼得，说他是主的门徒之一

彼得否认他曾认识主耶稣！

2．另一个人也说了类似的话

彼得再次否认与主耶稣有关系

3．第三个人是个男子。，他指责彼得，说他是加利利人，是主耶稣的门

徒。彼得再次否认自己是主的门徒。

鸡啼

“正说话之间，鸡就叫了。 主转过身来看彼得，彼得便想起主对他所说的话：‘今日鸡叫以先，你要三次不认我。’他就出去痛哭。”

《路加福音 22：60b-62》

1．鸡叫了

2．那一刻主耶稣已经到了大祭司的宅里

3．祂转过身来看彼得

4．门徒彼得伤心欲绝

a．他想起主耶稣的话

b．他确实三次不认主

c．他以最糟糕的方式辜负了主耶稣!

d．他流下了苦涩的泪水离开大祭司的院子
