Text: Luke 24: 28-29
THE END OF THE JOURNEY
1. The journey from Jerusalem as about 7 miles. They were coming to the end of the journey.
“Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther.”
Luke 24:28
a. For the two Disciples, they had returned to their home.
b. The Lord Jesus was not from that village
c. He indicated that He would take His leave.
2. Graciously, the two disciples spoke to the Lord Jesus.
“But they constrained Him, saying, ‘Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.’ And He went in to stay with them.”
Luke 24:29
a. The two disciples practised basic Christian courtesy.
b. They were home, but the Stranger had some ways to go, so it seemed.
c. It was towards evening, and people do not generally travel at night.
i. It was not safe to travel at night.
ii. There were no street lamps.
iii. One does not walk alone at night.
3. An Invitation to the Divine Guest.
a. “Abide with us”
i. Stay with the hosts.
ii. Have a meal with the family.
iii. Rest up for the night.
iv. Genuine hospitality was shown.
b. Acceptance of the Invitation.
i. The Lord Jesus accepted the kind invitation.
ii. He would stay with them.
iii. How blessed the home that the Lord Jesus would enter in!

iii. 能有主耶稣到临的家是多么有福气!
