My Song In The Night (Gospel of Luke)
我夜间的歌曲《路加福音》
Text: Luke 24: 32-35
“And they said to one another, ‘Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?’ So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, saying, ‘The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!’ And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread.”
Luke 24:32-35
1. The two Disciples of the Lord Jesus spoke to each other excitedly.
a. They recalled their feelings as their Risen Saviour revealed the Scriptures to them.
b. They had felt their hearts burning.
i. With enlightened understanding.
ii. With great joy as comprehension came.
2. They had just completed a 7-mile journey to Emmaus; they decided to walk back to Jerusalem to share with the other disciples what they had just experienced.
3. They affirmed that they too had seen the Risen Saviour, as Simon Peter did.
a. Simon Peter’s name was mentioned in acknowledgment of his position as the leader of the band of disciples.
b. Peter and the other apostles had seen the Lord Jesus earlier (John 20:19-20).
4. Sharing their testimony.
a. How the Lord Jesus walked with them to Emmaus.
i. He had opened up the Scriptures to them.
ii. But they did not know that the Risen Saviour had appeared to them.
b. Only at the meal in their home:
i. When the Lord blessed the bread.
ii. When He gave them the bread.
iii. Then their eyes were opened.
iv. They had swiftly returned to Jerusalem to inform the disciples of their experience of seeing the Risen Saviour.
