COMMON HUMAN BEHAVIOUR
1. What is “normal” behaviour to enemies who hate us?
a. Enemies are avoided.
b. There is no relationship with enemies.
2. What is the Lord’s teaching?
a. Is it the same?
b. Did He teach differently?
ASTONISHING RESPONSE TO ENEMIES TAUGHT
1. Love
“Love your enemies”
Luke 6:27a
2. Do good

Luke 6:27b
3. Bless
“Bless those who curse you”
Luke 6:28a
4. Pray
“Pray for those who spitefully use you”
Luke 6:28b
A TOTALLY DIFFERENT APPROACH
1. The Pharisees
a. They fight all who resist them.
b. They avoid all who were not like them.
2. The Zealots
a. They used violence towards their enemies.
b. They hate anyone who is against them.
3. The Sadducees
a. They kept their focus on getting wealthy.
b. They make use of every means to gain their worldly goals.
The teachings of the Lord Jesus were startlingly different from what was commonly taught and practised in Israel in those days.
