Text: Luke 7: 29-30

THE JOY OF THE PEOPLE

1. They were happy to hear the words of praise concerning John the Baptiser

a. They “justified God” (Luke 7:29)

i. They declared God righteous.

ii. They were thankful that John preached about repentance and baptism.

iii. This gave them the opportunity to respond to God appropriately.

b. The reason for this response:

i. They had heard John preach.

ii. They had been convicted of their sins.

iii. They had been baptised by John.

c. The tax collectors

i. They were despised by many.

ii. They were often dishonest.

iii. But John still baptised them if they repented from their sins.

NOT EVERYONE AGREED WITH THE LORD JESUS

1. The Pharisees did not agree

a. They were very proud.

b. They were self-righteous.

c. Many were hypocrites.

2. The lawyers also did not agree

a. They were so-called experts in the law of Moses.

b. They prided themselves as very learned people.

c. They rejected John’s message about the will of God and about repentance.

3. They had rejected the will of God that John preached (Luke 7:30)

a. The will of God was to acknowledge and confess sins.

b. It was to be baptised and to live righteously.

c. They had rejected:

i. God’s will

ii. John’s ministry

iii. John’s baptism

众百姓的喜乐

1．他们很高兴听到赞美施洗约翰的话

a．他们“以上帝为义”《路加福音 7：29》

i．他们宣称上帝是公义的

ii．他们感谢约翰传讲悔改和洗礼的道

iii．这让他们有机会适当地回应上帝

b．这样回应的原因：

i．他们听过约翰讲道

ii．他们已为自己的罪责备自己

iii．他们受了约翰的洗礼

c．税吏

i．他们被很多人鄙视

ii．他们很多时候都不诚实

iii．但是如果他们从罪中悔改，约翰还是会为他们施洗的

不是每个人都赞同主耶稣

1．法利赛人不赞同

a．他们都很骄傲

b．他们自以为是

c．有许多是假冒为善的人

2．律法师也不赞同

a．对于摩西的律法，他们是所谓的专家

b．他们自恃是非常有学问的人

c．他们拒绝了约翰所传关于上帝的旨意和忏悔的信息

3．他们废弃了约翰所宣讲的上帝的旨意《路加福音 7：30》

a．上帝的旨意是要我们向祂陈明与承认我们的罪

b．是要我们受洗和过公义的生活

c．他们废弃了：

i．上帝的旨意

ii．约翰的事工

iii．约翰的洗礼
