Text: Luke 7: 31-35

SPEAKING AN IMPORTANT WORD

1. The Lord Jesus addressed the people of that generation (Luke 7:31)

a. They were like children.

b. Some were like stubborn children.

c. A game played by the children.

i. A leader would call to the others to “dance”. But the stubborn ones would not listen.

ii. A leader would call to the others to “mourn”.
But again, the stubborn ones would refuse any suggestion (Luke 7:32).

2. When John the Baptiser came along

a. “Neither eating bread nor drinking wine” (Luke 7:33a)

i. This is a reference to “socialising”.

ii. John did not socialise.

iii. Of course, he ate and drank, or he would die.

b. The Pharisees (representing the Jewish religious leaders)

i. They said that John had a demon.

ii. They were swift to pass judgment.

3. When the Lord Jesus came along

a. He came “eating and drinking”.

i. The Lord socialised with the tax collectors and sinners.

ii. He did not despise them.

b. The Pharisees commented:

i. He is “a glutton and a winebibber” (Luke 7:34a).

ii. He is “a friend of tax collectors and sinners” (Luke 7:34b).

iii. They were swift to pass judgment, once again.

4. “But wisdom is justified by all children” (Luke 7:35)

a. The Pharisees think of themselves as very wise people.

b. They despised all not in their social circle.

c. But who are the true children of wisdom?

i. The fruit of wisdom is the best way of gauging a person.

ii. Passing judgment is never a mark of wisdom.

iii. True wisdom was found in the Lord Jesus Christ.

b．法利赛人（代表犹太人的宗教领袖们)

i．他们说约翰被鬼附着

ii．他们迅速作出论断

3．当主耶稣出现时

a．祂来“也吃、也喝”

i．主跟税吏和罪人们交往

ii．祂并不鄙视他们

b．法利赛人批评祂:

i．说祂是“贪食好酒的人”《路加福音 7：34a》

ii．祂是“祱吏和罪人的朋友”《路加福音 7：34b》

iii．再一次的，他们很迅速就作出论断

4 “但智慧之子都以智慧为是”《路加福音 7：35》

a．法利赛人认为自己是非常有智慧的人

b．他们鄙视所有不属于他们社交圈中的人

c．可是谁才是智慧之子？

i．智慧的果实是衡量一个人的最好方法

ii．随便做判断从来都不是智慧的标志

iii．真正的智慧可在主耶稣基督里找到
