Text: Luke 8: 31-36

THE COMMAND OF THE LORD JESUS

1. The Lord Jesus Christ had fulness of authority and power.

2. He commanded the demons to depart from the man of Gadara (Luke 8:29).

THE PLEA OF THE DEMONS

1. They begged the Lord Jesus

a. They will depart from the man as commanded.

b. They pleaded with the Lord not to send them to “the abyss” (Luke 8:31).

i. This is the final place of imprisonment of demons.

ii. It is sometimes called “the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:10).

c. They begged the Lord to send them into a herd of pigs (Luke 8:32b).

d. Permission was granted and the swine of herd leaped over a cliff to their death (Luke 8:32c-33)

2. The keepers of the swine

a. These were employees.

b. They saw all that had happened.

c. They fled the scene and reported this event (Luke 8:34b).

d. They would not want to be charged for the loss of the pigs.

3. The people came from both country and city (Luke 8:34b.

a. Gergesa (country village)

b. Gadara (city)

4. They saw

a. The man who was formerly called “Legion”.

i. He sat before the Lord.

ii. He was clothed.

iii. He was in his right mind (Luke 8:35a).

b. They were afraid (Luke 8:35b).

i. They did not understand what had happened.

ii. They did not know the Lord Jesus personally.

iii. They knew that He obviously had great power.

5. They had been informed by the keepers of the swine (Luke 8:36)

a. The people who owned the herd of swine were Gentiles.

b. No Jew would tend to swine for it was an unclean animal to them.

c. They were told how the Lord commanded the demons to leave.

2. 放猪的人

a. 这些是打工的人

b. 他们都看到发生的一切

c. 他们逃跑了，去告诉城里和乡下的人《路加福音 8：34b》

d. 他们不要为损失的猪赔钱

4. 众人看到

a. 一个以前叫“群”的人

i. 坐在主耶稣脚前

ii. 穿着衣服

iii. 心里明白过来《路加福音 8：35a》

b. 他们就害怕《路加福音 8：35b》

i. 他们对所发生的事感到迷惑不解

ii. 他们并没亲自认识主耶稣，心中没有信服

iii. 他们明显地知道祂有巨大的能力

5. 是放猪的人告诉他们此事《路加福音 8：36》

a. 这群猪的主人是外邦人

b. 没有犹太人会放猪，因为犹太人视猪为不洁
