Text: Luke 9: 10-11

THE REPORT OF THE APOSTLES

1. They had been sent on a short preaching trip (Luke 9:1-6).

2. They returned to the Lord Jesus and reported all that they had done (Luke 9:10a).

WITHDRAWING FOR A BIT OF RESPITE

1. The Lord Jesus took all His Apostles into a deserted place.

2. This was near the city of Bethsaida (Luke 9:10b).

THE MULTITUDES

1. The multitudes learned that the Lord Jesus was in their region.

2. They had heard good and positive things about the Lord Jesus.

3. They searched for Him and followed Him (Luke 9:11).

4. Their response was very different from that of King Herod Antipas (Luke 9:7-9).

THE RESPONSE OF THE LORD JESUS

1. The Lord Jesus received them kindly.

a. This was originally meant to be a bit of a breather for everyone.

b. But when the multitudes came to the Lord, He did not turn them away.

c. He received them (Luke 9:11b).

2. The Kingdom of God

a. The Lord Jesus taught the multitudes about the Kingdom of God.

b. He also healed all those who were sick (Luke 9:11c).

THE HEART OF THE LORD JESUS

1. This was clearly and wonderfully revealed.

a. He put the needs of others ahead of personal plans.

b. He attended to all who came to Him:

i. Seeking knowledge of God.

ii. Seeking help for their illnesses.

2. Further lessons for the Apostles:

a. They needed to learn how to stretch themselves further.

b. The needs of the multitudes must be given priority above personal needs.

主耶稣的心
