MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – CHRISTOLOGY
“So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.”
Colossians 2:16-17
THE FEASTS OF ISRAEL
1. There were many ‘spiritual feasts” that Israel celebrated.
a. There were three main feasts that required participants to be in Jerusalem.
b. There were minor feasts that were also celebrated.
2. Some of these things were highlighted:
a. Festivals
b. New moon
c. Sabbaths
3. In close relationship:
a. Food and drink were linked.
b. Certain types of food and drink were forbidden.
4. Judgment of people:
a. Those who do not keep these festivals.
b. They were judged severely by the false teachers.
c. They were told to keep all of these feasts and dietary laws.
A SHADOW OF THINGS TO COME
1. Paul’s response to them was strong and clear-cut.
a. The feasts celebrated important historical events.
b. But they contained great spiritual lessons.
2. The feasts of Israel were only “shadows of things to come”.
a. The Passover Feast foreshadowed the Lord Jesus as the Passover Lamb.
b. The Feast of Weeks foreshadowed the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the Lord’s people.
c. The Feast of Tabernacles foreshadowed the dwelling of the Lord among His people.
3. The substance is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
a. The feasts of old foreshadowed the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
b. He is the substance of all the spiritual lessons that were taught.
c. The Lord Jesus was therefore:
i. The centre of faith.
ii. The heart of all aspects of worship.
iii. The by-all and end-all of all things spiritual.

经文:歌罗西书 2
“所以,不拘在饮食上或节期、月朔、安息日,都不可让人论断你们。这些原是后事的影儿,那形体却是基督。”
