My Song In The Night (Vital Doctrines)
Text: Galatians 2: 11-13
MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.
Galatians 2:11-13

b. They were sent by the Apostle James.
c. Many of the Jewish Christians adhered to the old customs/ traditions.
d. One of the traditions was that Jews do not eat with Gentiles.

g. For a moment, fear overcame them.
4. Paul withstood Peter on this occasion.
a. He felt that Peter was blameworthy.
b. He felt that what Peter and Barnabas did was hypocritical.
i. In the absence of the Jewish Christians, Peter and Barnabas ate with the Gentiles.
ii. In the presence of the Christians from Jerusalem, they withdrew.
iii. This was inconsistent with the message of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
c. Paul had to address the problem there and then, or it would have affected the church at Antioch adversely.

iii.
iii.
