My Song In The Night (Vital Doctrines)
我夜间的歌曲《重要教义-救恩》
Text: Galatians 2: 17-19
MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not!
For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God.”Galatians 2:17-19
SEEKING JUSTIFICATION
1. Some people were puzzled by this doctrine of justification.
2. One question in particular came up.
a. If we are sinner
b. And the Lord Jesus justifies us.
c. Would that not make the Lord Jesus a minister of sin?
3. Paul’s reply
a. Strong
b. Straightforward
c. The Lord Jesus is NOT a minister of sin!
4. The Lord Jesus is not sinful.
a. Because He associates with sinners.
b. He is not tainted by sinful people.
c. He has no personal sin because of his “sinless perfection”.
d. He is able to bear our sins for us.
e. He imputes His personal righteousness to us and thus we are justified.
f. This was a profound truth some found difficult to comprehend.
5. The Law of God
a. Some did not understand the place of the Law of God.
b. A common misunderstanding:
i. If the law is kept, it will bring justification.
ii. Thus, the Law was heavily emphasised.
c. The reality:
i. Nobody can keep the Law of God perfectly.
ii. Thus, we cannot obtain justification by attempting to keep the Law.
6. The Testimony of Paul:
a. He was a Pharisee.
b. He sought to keep the Law carefully.
c. He did not succeed at all!
7. Paul turned to faith in the Lord Jesus.
a. He obtained justification.
b. He was declared righteous, though he had sinned terribly.
8. Would Paul teach justification by keeping the Law?
a. No!
b. If he did that, he would be found a transgressor.
c. Paul saw himself as having died to the Law.
9. The new life:
a. It is found through justification God offers.
b. This is the new life through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
