My Song In The Night (Vital Doctrines)
我夜间的歌曲《重要教义-救恩》
Text: Colossians 3: 10-11
MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – CHRISTOLOGY
“And have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,
where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.”Colossians 3:10-11
PUT ON THE NEW MAN
1. A strong contrast was made.
a. To put off the old man.
b. To put on the new man.
c. Both things must be done.
2. The significance of God’s creation of Man.
a. When God made man.
i. Man was made in God’s image.
ii. Man was to be in His likeness (Genesis 1:26).
b. But Man fell because of sin.
i. That image was blighted.
ii. Man was no longer the same.
3. The significance of putting on the new man.
a. Man is restored to being in God’s image.
b. Man is re-created afresh, in the image of the Lord Jesus Christ.
c. Where it all begins:
i. Man is renewed in his mind and in knowledge.
ii. He is capable of thinking and retaining thoughts about God.
iii. Knowledge of God is of great significance!
4. The Lord Jesus is right in the centre of everything.
a. He is our all in all.
b. He is the beginning and end of our new life in the Lord Jesus Christ.
c. We are to be like the Lord Jesus in everything and in every way.
5. The practical implications:
a. No racial discrimination.
“Neither Greek nor Jew”
b. No religious difference.
“Circumcised nor uncircumcised”.
c. No Scythian influence.
i. These were an ancient Persian nomadic people.
ii. They were dominant in their mythological beliefs and practices.
iii. They influenced many through their culture and religion.
iv. They offer nothing of value to all who believe in the Lord Jesus.
d. No slave nor free.
i. No class distinction.
ii. The slave is not despised because of his social status.
e. The Lord Jesus is all that we need to stand before God as His people.
